We’re excited to announce that Zoom’s generative AI assistant, AI Companion, is now available for U-M Zoom webinars. It provides the same feature set as AI Companion for meetings - in-webinar questions, webinar summary, and Smart Recording.
Important things to note:
- Zoom AI Companion features and controls are managed in your U-M Zoom account settings.
- By default, the features will be available to use in webinars you host unless you turn them off in your account settings before they begin.
- The settings can be found in the “Webinar” section under the “AI Companion” tab in your settings.
- Only hosts and co-hosts can manage AI Companion settings for the webinars they host.
- Although the features will be available to use (if enabled in your account settings), they are not active and do not have access to content in webinars you host until you manually enable them on a webinar-by-webinar basis. You can enable them by using the AI Companion control button (sparkle icon) in the webinar window after it begins (located in the bottom toolbar).
- If you join a webinar where AI Companion features are being used, a glowing sparkle icon will be visible in the top-left corner of your window.
- Attendees and panelists cannot request that the host turn on/off AI features for the webinar.
- Attendees cannot interact with or view the in-webinar questions or webinar summary.
- By default, only the host will receive a webinar summary after it ends if they have enabled it. They can then choose to share it with attendees if desired by sharing it individually via Zoom or copying and pasting the webinar summary text from Zoom into a document and sending it separately.
