This feature of the new Digital Signage Tiered Solutions is designed to simplify how campus units manage digital signage layouts and integrations. With Managed Template Support (MTS), you no longer need to work directly in Four Winds Content Manager Desktop. You retain full control and responsibility for your content, visual design, and data sources, while the ITS-Digital Signage team takes your designs, implements them in Four Winds, and works with you to establish a workflow that makes ongoing content management easy for your team.
What’s Changing
MTS is automatically included with the Advanced tier and is available as a Custom tier option (compare options). ITS-Digital Signage will now handle the technical setup in Four Winds for your department’s digital signage. This shift allows your team to focus on creating meaningful, engaging content—while ITS ensures your signs work seamlessly behind the scenes.
You’ll continue to:
- Design the layout and style of your digital signage (fonts, colors, etc.).
- Create and maintain your own images, videos, and announcements.
- Select and provide data feeds (RSS, JSON, etc.) for display.
- Ensure your content meets university accessibility and brand standards.
ITS-Digital Signage will:
- Manage and maintain the templates that form the framework of your signs—setting parameters for size, layout, style, behavior, and scheduling.
- Integrate external data sources and organize appropriate deployment configurations.
- Create and configure content objects and data connectors within Four Winds.
- Set up the desired content scheduling and rotation.
- Offer easy-to-use tools for submitting changes and maintaining content (e.g., Google Sheets, storage drives for file uploads, content request forms).
- Provide expert consult and troubleshooting for template layout and function.
What this Means for You
You no longer need to edit or configure templates directly within Four Winds. When you need new layouts, content types, or data feeds, simply share your design mockups with the ITS-Digital Signage team—they’ll build the appropriate templates for you.
This managed approach helps to:
- Eliminate the need to learn or use complex template tools.
- Minimize configuration errors and reduce downtime.
- Enhance visual consistency and standardize workflows across campus signage.
- Offer centralized support and maintenance for all display templates.
