Information Assurance
Asmat Noori is the Interim Chief Information Security Officer and Executive Director of Information Assurance for U-M’s Information and Technology Services (ITS). Asmat is responsible for leading information assurance capabilities (including Vulnerability Management, Risk Assessment, Incident Response, Disaster Recovery Planning, Compliance and Security Consulting, among others) to protect U-M’s digital assets while supporting the university’s missions of teaching, research, and patient care.
Asmat has a deep dedication to the University of Michigan, with nearly 25 years of experience in various IT leadership roles. Before taking on his current role, Asmat was Assistant Director for Information Assurance within ITS. Prior to that, he served as the Assistant Director for Computer & Network Services at Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) — the world’s largest social science data archive, hosted at the University of Michigan. At ICPSR, he designed one of higher education’s first virtual data enclaves.
He also has experience as an IT Manager at Michigan Medicine (then the U-M Health System), supporting such critical care areas as the Emergency Rooms, Operating Rooms, Internal Medicine, and Surgery and Anesthesia departments.
Asmat received a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Michigan, and holds a number of technical security certifications.
He has lived in Ann Arbor, Switzerland, and Egypt. He enjoys acting, traveling, and spending time with his two daughters — both are Michigan grads.
