U-M Benefits Office staff use the Benefits Administration module to manage benefit services for U-M faculty and staff and retired faculty and staff. Key features of the module include:
- Administration, which supports key tasks, such as determining benefit eligibility and processing benefit enrollments and terminations.
- COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act), which manages the processing of COBRA benefit elections and terminations for former U-M staff.
- Billing, which manages the accounts of individuals who have a benefits contribution that is not covered by a payroll deduction. These individuals may be employees on leave of absence, retirees, and COBRA participants, including terminated employees and eligible survivors of employees and retirees.
- Base Benefits, which is used to inquire about benefit participation.
An important advantage of the Benefits Administration module is that employees can elect most of their benefits any time during the year when they experience a "life event," such as marriage, birth or adoption of a child, etc.
The Benefits Office provides detailed information about available benefits and includes links to benefits forms.
