Tech Shop Stockkeeper

Tech Shop Stockkeepers assist the Purchasing and Inventory team with various inventory related tasks including but not limited to: receiving inventory, ETA reporting, organizing the stock area, and fulfilling inventory requests to other Tech Shop locations.

Responsibilities

  • Receive inventory deliveries via Tech Shop retail management system
  • Perform daily supplier order ETA reporting
  • Verify accuracy of materials received against purchase orders
  • Assist with organizing of the Tech Shop stockroom inventory
  • Assist in researching and reconciling inventory discrepancies
  • Price tag or re-tag inventory items as necessary
  • Perform stock rotation per FIFO (First In First Out) standards
  • Break down cardboard boxes, transport and load cardboard into the Michigan Union recycling compactor 
  • Research proposed new item specifications for possible adaptation to Tech Shop inventory
  • Create, print, and position inventory identification tags for stockroom reference
  • File supplier purchase orders and intra-store transfer documents
  • Assist with physical inventory counts as needed

Educational Value

Gain hands-on experience in inventory control and stockroom management, learning the essential practices and processes of these roles. Develop problem-solving skills and learn to research inventory issues related to the maintenance of cutting-edge technology used by the Tech Shop.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a University of Michigan student
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Google mail
  • Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to detail and follow-up/follow-through
  • Ability to move and organize stock, which may include climbing a ladder, moving items overhead, and safely lifting or maneuvering up to 30 pounds unassisted
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as work collaboratively as part of a team

Work Hours and Location

Approximately 15 hours per week at the Michigan Union.

Hourly Rate

$15.00 per hour.
