When a phone number is transitioned to Zoom Phone, the corresponding current telephone will go out of service—it will no longer have a dial tone and will not be able to make or receive calls.
Most users will then use the "soft phone" version of Zoom Phone, where calls are made and received via the user's computer or a mobile phone. Some users, with departmental approval, will opt to also receive a replacement desk phone, which will be delivered and installed by ITS at a later date.
No phones currently in use on campus will work with the new system.
