Michigan Medicine’s network connects to the ITS border network and from there to the Internet at large.
The Network Border Infrastructure System is inserted between the Backbone internet and Merit, the university's Internet Service Provider. This provides protection for Michigan Medicine internet traffic. Research data and HIPAA is not affected by the detection process.
