A virtual host provides web service at a specific domain name while still offering the access control and management functionality of an AFS directory. It optionally includes functionality not available on the websites.umich.edu servers. Currently, there is no charge for Virtual Hosting.
As of July 1, 2024, new WordPress and Drupal websites can no longer be set up using AFS Web Virtual Hosting. University units needing new WordPress or Drupal websites should use Pantheon at U-M or another web hosting provider.
