Currently, efforts to develop PrivaScope are funded through participation by various groups in ITS in collaboration with research-funded members of the Reinventing Urban Transportation and Mobility (RITMO) project.
Going Forward, PrivaScope could be funded directly or indirectly as part of the ITS budget, explicitly as part of the Michigan Institute for Data Science (MIDAS) initiative, explicitly through a rate structure, or directly through research grants to the university. Outside grant funding is most likely to occur if the university opens up the PrivaScope “living laboratory” to researchers at other institutions (particularly smaller schools that lack the infrastructure and scale to replicate the envisioned framework).
