Version 6.8

The eResearch Proposal Management system (eRPM) was updated with several system enhancements to version 6.8 on November 27, 2022.  See the following sections for applicable project-types and office updates.

PAF, AWD, MOD and ACR

• To improve accessibility, redesigned Help text and questions in the PAF worksheet to match that of the Help on Award and UFA. This replaces the Help that appeared in the blue boxes on the right side. See the Additional Help page for more information.
  
• For Reviewers: Updated Manage Department functionality by separating lists of "Active" departments from "Inactive" departments, to more easily manage sets of people.
  
• For Unit Liaisons: Updated Unit Liaison’s Manage Department functionality by separating "Active" departments from "Inactive"departments.
  

• Added a required question to enter the Sponsor Deadline “Due Date” on the Project Team Request ORSP Action activity at the request of the Project Teams. This new "Due Date" field will inform those in the workflow of the time sensitive nature of the action, and is only available once the PAF has moved to the state of Submitted to Sponsor.

  •  If a Due Date is entered, a new system validation will enforce the upload of a document, which should be from the sponsor showing the required deadline.

• Updated the Investigators Attestation bullet on the Sign Activities for PAF, Award, ACR and UFA with a minor change from Innovation Partnerships.

  • “Agrees to the applicability of official policies of U-M and/or the sponsor (e.g., the federal Bayh-Dole Act) with respect to intellectual property, as they may be amended from time to time.”

• PAF Question 5.11 and 5.11.1 (Which UFAs relate to this research?) changed the ability to free-enter text of Special Sponsored Project (SSP) numbers. Instead, any relevant non-financial agreements (e.g., UFA IDs and SSP IDs) can be searched for and selected from the chooser.

Unfunded Agreements (UFA)

• Updated all UFA questions that allow you to relate two UFAs to each other.  The free-entry of Special Sponsored Project (SSP) numbers was removed; instead, ID numbers (other UFA IDs and SSP IDs) can be searched for and selected from the chooser.

• Updated the UFA Amendment process to give Project Teams the ability to partially fill out a TCP Amendment and save it.

Grant.gov Forms (SF424)

Updated the Cognizant Official’s name and phone number on Budget forms.

For Central Offices

Conflict of Interest Office

• AWD: Created a new activity, Submit Ad Hoc COI Personnel Ancillary Review, to allow the COI office to retroactively record a COI Personnel Review, if it was missed during the activation of the award. This eliminates the need for ORSP to create a MOD in order to request a COI review.
  

• AWD/MOD: Updated the question language to indicate if a COI Personnel (review) should be performed.

  • "Has ORSP or COI indicated a need for COI review of project team personnel?"

• PAF: Added new fields to display on the View Disclosure Information activity (located under Manage Data menu), which consolidates views.

• ACR: Updated an International Engagement Review calculation to only trigger when the sponsors are Federal. Currently, it was triggered if an international engagement question was answered as “yes” regardless of the sponsor type.

Export Controls Office

• Updated the UFA Amendment process to allow Export Control staff the ability to partially fill out a TCP Amendment and save it, without having to fill out all fields at once. Validation (error-checking) will occur with the Submit activity.

• Added a set for “UFAs Referencing this AWD” to display under Related UFAs on the Manage Export Control Factors (Manage Data) view.
  

• UFAs: On the Post a Comment to Entire Project activity, added TCP Amendment department contacts and IT Managers as Email Recipients, if they differ from the original departments. This allows for communication with the newly added individuals during an amendment cycle.
  

ORSP

• AWD-MOD: Added a new warning message for Early Termination Modifications to remind staff to update the “Budget Period End Date” in addition to the “Project Period End Date”.
   

• PAF: Changed the ORSP-PR and ORSP-Coverage Home workspaces to accommodate the new field added to the Sponsor Due Date in the “Project Team Request ORSP Action” activity.

  • ORSP-PR: Proposals tab, Post Submission PAFs lister

    • Removed the Due Date column (it only applies to PAFs that need to be submitted)

    • Added a new “Deadline” column  which shows the Sponsor Date if the Project Team requests action and adds a date.

    • Replaced "Previous P/G" with "Related Award"

  • ORSP-Coverage: Proposals tab

    • Divided one long list of PAFs into two listers: "Pre-Submission PAFs" and "Post-Submission PAFs". 

    • “Post-Submission PAFs” list changes as described above.

• AWD: Created an activity to allow the COI office to retroactively record a COI or Personnel Review on awards, if it was missed during activation of the award. This will eliminate having to create a MOD to request a review.
