A hardware asset inventory is a place to collect, store, and update information on hardware assets. In addition, a Hardware Asset Inventory could:
- Provide the ability to add custom fields
- Authorize users to update the assets in their area
- Refresh data using some form of automated discovery
Hardware inventory has a critical role in maintaining security around existing physical assets on the network and creating an organized rollout of updates to this hardware.
