Getting Started with U-M Pantheon

Creating a website with Pantheon requires four steps:

  1. Secure your website by ensuring it is behind U-M Cloudflare (strongly recommended in order to reduce Pantheon rate plan costs).
  2. Create an U-M Pantheon website sandbox .
  3. Build or migrate your Wordpress/Drupal website content in the U-M Pantheon sandbox.
  4. Publish the completed U-M Pantheon website by selecting a rate plan.

What to expect

All websites start on the Sandbox plan, which is free. With this plan you can:

  • Access your empty Dev, Test, and Live environments.
  • Build your site content or migrate existing site content.
  • Test functionality to ensure your site works as desired.

When you are ready to publish the website (i.e., make it accessible through a non-Pantheon domain name), you will choose the paid plan you want for the website based on your anticipated traffic levels.

  • If your website won’t have a lot of traffic and you don’t want any of the enterprise features, choose Basic.
  • Otherwise, choose Performance Small, which comes with Overage Protection, and move to the size plan your website needs after 2–3 months.
  • Refer to the Pricing page for detailed information about plans and rates.
