These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the ITS AI Workflows service which consists of the software n8n.
1. Your Access
When utilizing the service, ITS AI Workflows, you provide certain personal information. The collection and use of that information are detailed more specifically in the service privacy notice.
The access and use of the service are limited to within the United States.
2. Responsibilities and Expectations
You will use the ITS AI Workflows service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms and university policies, including, but not limited to, SPG 601.07 Responsible Use of Information Resources). Additionally:
- You will determine the classification of any university data, review directions in the Sensitive Data Guide, and consult with data stewards as appropriate before making the data available to ITS AI Workflows and underlying services.
- You will not use ITS AI Workflows to make decisions affecting financial, academic, employment, compliance, or safety outcomes for individuals based solely on automated processing.
- You are responsible for ensuring that your workflows are designed, configured, and maintained in a manner that does not compromise University data and/or processes. This includes, but is not limited to, safeguarding credentials, validating user input, updating integrations, and regularly reviewing workflows for potential security risks.
- ITS AI Workflows are restricted to non-clinical use and you may not use the service for diagnosis, treatment, patient care, or regulated clinical purposes.
- You will remove unused workflows, credentials, and integrations and will maintain appropriate access controls at all times.
- You will not attempt to bypass technical safeguards, exceed service limits, probe for vulnerabilities, or otherwise interfere with the security or stability of the service.
3. Suspension and Termination of Your Use of AI Workflows
You understand that your access may be suspended or terminated, without prior notice, if you misuse data, fail to maintain required oversight, create security, compliance, legal, or operational risk, or otherwise use the service in a manner that conflicts with University policy. Additionally, the University reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disable, remove, or restrict access to any ITS AI workflows, projects, or related assets that are determined to violate these Terms of Service or University policy, without prior notice.
4. Changes to these Terms
U-M may make changes to these Terms at any time in its sole discretion. U-M will inform you that changes have been made via this web page. You should routinely check the web page to find out if any changes have been made that affect your use of the ITS AI Workflows service. By accessing the AI Workflows service following the posting of changes, you agree to all such changes.
5. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
The ITS AI Workflows service is being provided to you on an “as is” basis without any representations, warranties or conditions, whether express or implied, including any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, satisfactory quality, title or non-infringement.
Nothing in these Terms or otherwise is intended to, and U-M does not, waive any governmental or other immunities or defenses that may be granted, applicable, or available to U-M in any way whatsoever.
6. Governing Law
This Agreement will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of Michigan.
7. General
Your access to and use of services are governed by this agreement. In the event you have any questions about this agreement, contact the ITS Service Center.
If any part of these Terms is determined to be invalid or unenforceable then the invalid or unenforceable provision will be deemed superseded by a valid enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original provision, and the remainder of this agreement will continue in effect. The failure of U-M to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. You are prohibited from assigning this agreement or transferring your rights under this agreement to anyone else.
8. Third Party Services
Any third-party software, services, or other products licensed or used in connection with ITS AI Workflows are subject to their own terms and you expressly agree to abide by such terms to the extent applicable.
