Here are some frequently asked questions about the UMRCP. If you need instructions on how to request allocations, refer to our Requesting Resources Guide.
Do I Need to Reapply Annually?
The UMRCP does not require researchers to reapply. Allocations will automatically be renewed on July 1 of each year.
What Happens When the Allocations are Maxed Out?
- CPU hours: any jobs scheduled to run beyond the 80,000 CPU hours provided via UMRCP will need to be run on a different slurm account with a Shortcode attached.
- Active storage: purchase additional storage using a Shortcode
- Archive storage: purchase additional storage using a Shortcode
- Secure Enclave: purchase additional allocations using a Shortcode
To continue using ARC services for a fee after UMRCP allocations are exhausted, researchers must sign up for additional slurm accounts and provide a Shortcode from their unit.
How do I make changes if I have already submitted the UMRCP request form?
If you have already submitted the UMRCP request form and you want to modify it, open a ticket by sending an email to ARC Support. Be sure to include the name of your project.
Note: Some university colleges and schools provide funding for HPC access, usually first requiring a researcher to enroll in UMRCP. Learn more about U-M college and school programs providing access to research computing services.
