WiFi Device Compatibility Guide

The Device Compatibility Guide provides information about which electronic devices can be connected to the campus network and information about how to connect them. If devices have detailed instructions for setup, links are also provided below. Whatever device you connect, protect your privacy and sensitive personal and university information by following the best practices in Secure Your Internet of Things Devices.

The chart below provides a list of common devices, whether they are supported on university networks, setup instructions/links, and which wireless network they will rely upon going forward once configured on university networks.

The wireless compatibility guide is meant to show what devices have been tested on WiFi—not necessarily the preferred connection method for a specific device. ITS is always testing new devices and adding them to this page. For questions about devices not listed on this page, or to request manual setup for devices which require it, contact the UMNet Administration team at 734-647-4200 or umnet-administration@umich.edu.

Note: While many devices may be able to connect to WiFi, ITS suggests using wired connections whenever possible. An ethernet (wired) connection will still offer the best functionality for gaming systems, smart TV's, etc. If you need to register a device for use on the wired network, please visit U-M Network Registration.
