- Installation of network printers on computers
The networked printer feature set includes self-service installation based on building floor plan for both Windows and Mac platforms and print quantity reporting over time (at unit's request). - Follow Me Printing
Follow Me Printing is a cloud-based print queue that allows on-demand and secure printing. ITS recommends card readers with multifunction devices to take advantage of Follow Me printing. - Print environment training for desktop support
ITS provides high-level training of the technical environment, as well as an introduction for support staff to the available tools and applications. Unit staff will leverage existing tools to clear and enable/disable print queues with functionality on par to that of Neighborhood IT in MiWorkspace. - Creation and management of print queues
ITS conducts a discovery effort in coordination with each department to compile a print device inventory, and understand any department-specific business cases. The initial print queues created by ITS uses this inventory. Unit staff may request to enroll new devices once the service is operational.
ITS recommends purchasing and installing multifunction printers in consultation with U-M Procurement. ITS can recommend specific models and can process orders on behalf of units. When procuring a new or replacement print device, ITS will work with the unit to understand requirements and recommend what we believe to be the best device. Submit a request for a recommendation for a new print hardware purchase.
