MiDesktop Jump Account

Jump Account Creation & Setup

1. To request a MiDesktop jump account, please email [email protected] and provide the MCommunity group associated with at least one MiDesktop pool.
2. Once the account is created, temporary credentials will be securely shared, but the password must then be changed using our jump server password utility. Be sure to enter ‘umroot\midesktop-uniqname’ for the username.
3. After changing the password, register the account with ITS Duo. You will be asked to associate the account with an existing U-M account, and to respond to the Duo push.
4. The account now has access to the MiDesktop jump server.

Please Note:

• Accounts are only created for MiDesktop customers.
• This account only provides access to the MiDesktop Jump Server, which then allows access to vCenter from a browser using the standard uniqname/password credentials.
• The account password expires every 42 days.
• An email reminder will be sent 7 days prior to expiration with instructions on how to change it.
• You may visit our jump server password utility at any time to change the password, even after it expires.
• The account will be disabled after 65 days of inactivity as a safety precaution.
• If the account is disabled or your password forgotten, please email [email protected] to request a reset.
