Getting Started with Canvas Catalog

Add Your Courses to Canvas Catalog

Follow these steps to get started:

Planning Phase

  • Define your program goals and requirements.
  • Schedule a consultation with ITS Teaching and Learning (ITS T&L) to view a demo.
 A crossed screwdriver and wrench.

Setup Phase

ITS T&L will

  • Set up your Canvas Catalog environment.
  • Provide training for Sub-Account/Sub-Catalog Administrators.
  • If applicable: set up payment gateway.
 A tablet with a course list.

Course Development Phase

Your department will

  • Build course content using modules and add prerequisites and requirements if issuing certificates.
  • Follow accessibility guidelines.
  • Preview course as a student.
  • Add instructors and publish course when ready.
 A rocket.

Launch Phase

ITS will assist you with

  • Customizing your storefront.
  • Configuring email and registration templates.

Your department will

  • Create course listings.
  • Add a course card image.
  • Write a clear course description.
  • Configure optional course completion certificates.
  • Open course for enrollment.
