Communication Styles in the Workplace: Straight Talk®

Duration

1.5 hours

Delivery Method

Virtual Instructor Led Training

Description

Straight Talk® is a communication framework that helps individuals better understand how they communicate, how others may communicate differently, and how to adapt their approach to build more effective workplace relationships.

In this interactive session, participants will explore the four primary Straight Talk® communication styles—Director, Expresser, Thinker, and Harmonizer—and identify the strengths and potential challenges associated with each. Participants will also practice empathetic listening and learn practical strategies for “flexing” their communication style when working with people who have different preferences and approaches.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Identify their individual communication style, including strengths and areas for growth.
  • Recognize how differences in communication styles can contribute to misunderstandings and conflict.
  • Adapt their communication approach to build trust and understanding across different perspectives.

You will benefit by:

  • Identifying your own communication style and understanding how it contributes to your success
  • Recognizing the strengths, challenges, and priorities of different communication styles
  • Practicing empathetic listening to better understand others before responding
  • Recognizing common listening roadblocks and strategies for overcoming them
  • Learning how to adapt—or “flex”—your communication style while remaining authentic
  • Building stronger communication, trust, and understanding with coworkers who communicate differently
