MiDatabase has three managed platform options:
- MySQL database operating on a Red Hat Linux platform
- Oracle database operating on a Red Hat Linux platform
- Microsoft SQL Server database operating on a Windows platform
Database Management Systems and Operating systems are monitored, patched, and backed up by ITS. Units still manage their actual data and applications. The servers are virtualized and located at U-M data centers with built-in redundancy at all levels. Disk performance in MiDatabase can handle demanding production workloads. Large network capacity allows intensive application processing without system degradation. The optional migration service assists customers with migrating data into MiDatabase. Aging hardware and outdated database versions will no longer be a concern.
