Dear colleagues,
The University of Michigan recently learned that the company that provides our eResearch platform, Huron Consulting Group, will be sunsetting the product by the end of 2031. As part of our ongoing commitment to support and foster a thriving research administration, the university has commenced a two-year planning project to develop a recommendation for migration by the deadline.
Our eResearch platform supports and streamlines research through various technological tools, fosters collaboration across disciplines, and efficiently manages our extensive research operations. Key applications impacted by this change will include eResearch Proposal Management (eRPM), eResearch Regulatory Management (eRRM), M-Inform, and eRAM.
We assure you that our top priority is continuous support for these research administration services. In preparation for this transition, we have formed a dedicated cross-disciplinary team composed of members from the Office of the Vice President for Research, Information and Technology Services, governance committees, and the campus research administration. This group is actively collaborating to identify business requirements, explore market alternatives, and evaluate replacement solutions. At the same time, this group will also focus on key improvements that can be leveraged in a new system. Our goal is a recommendation and roadmap for a smooth and minimally disruptive transition.
The project team will contact you as the work progresses for your insights, expertise, and recommendations. Your feedback and participation will be pivotal in this process. For the latest updates on this project, please visit https://its.umich.edu/eResearch2031.
Rest assured, our current eResearch systems will remain supported throughout this journey. We sincerely appreciate your continued partnership as we pave the way for the future of eResearch at U-M.
With gratitude,
