M-Reports Modernization - Phase 2

M-Reports is undergoing a modernization project designed to set up a platform that encourages future enhancements, brings reports up to U-M accessibility standards, and accommodates a wide array of business needs to better support the M-Reports user community. 

Phase 1, completed in January 2024, included an updated look and feel, and improved accessibility.

Phase 2 involves a redesign of all reports using a new reporting structure. M-Reports is moving from an out-of-date backend technology to a widely-used existing technology. This allows the M-Reports team to better support and respond to the community’s reporting requirements and enhancement requests. The new reports also provide users with enhanced reporting capabilities and new features. 

All reports available on M-Reports today will continue to be available after the modernization.

Phase 2 Implementation Plan

Phase 2 is being implemented in waves based on report area. The planned schedule is: 

  • Research - Winter 2025
  • Finance - Spring 2025
  • Student/Admissions - TBD 2025
  • Tuition Attribution - TBD 2025
  • Facilities - TBD 2025

Please note that these timelines may be adjusted based on project goals and business cycles/needs.

During each wave, the M-Reports team will work closely with users in that area to ensure all redesigned reports are structured correctly, meet business requirements, and are accurate. The waves include time for requirements gathering and development, testing and feedback, and deployment and support.
