Overview
BigFix offers a suite of tools to help system administrators manage the following devices:
- Workstation/Desktop/Laptop
- Windows Server
- Unix/Linux/Mac Server
BigFix runs on a variety of operating systems including Windows and Macintosh computers. The university has been focused on three parts of the BigFix suite:
- Power Management - Provides a way for you to push power settings to computers, and to monitor the overall power usage of computers.
- Patch Management - Allows you to push software fixes and patches to computers. Prepackaged patches/fixes are delivered by the company on a regular basis.
- Unified Management Platform
UMich Base Configuration includes:

Systems Lifecycle Management Pack includes:
- Asset Discovery and Inventory
- Software Distribution
- Software Asset Management
OS Deployment Extension:
- Optional part of Systems Lifecycle Management Pack and has additional cost
Security Configuration & Vulnerability Management includes:
- Asset Discovery
- Security Configuration Management
- Vulnerability Management
Client Manager for AntiVirus Extension includes:
- Client Manager for common anti-virus software including McAfee, Symantec and others
Endpoint Protection includes:
- Anti-virus/Anti-Malware ( this includes Trend Micro’s AV)
- Client Manager for Endpoint Protection
- Web Reputation Service
- Network Access Control
- Endpoint Firewall
