ITS offers registered student teams and organizations use of high performance computing (HPC) resources on the Great Lakes High Performance Computing Cluster through Advanced Research Computing.
Details
ARC will cover the cost of access to Great Lakes for student teams and organizations who need HPC resources to enhance their team’s mission.
Jobs submitted from a student team account will have lower priority and will be able to run when sufficient resources are available.
Getting Started
In order to access Great Lakes, the student team or organization must be registered as a Sponsored Student Organization (SSO).
If your team or organization is an SSO and would like access to Great Lakes please have a sponsoring administrator contact ARC Support with the following information:
- Team name
- Uniqnames of members to be put on the account
- Uniqnames of administrators who can make decisions about the account
If you are a member of a team or organization that is not registered as an SSO, please reach out to ARC Support with the details of your organization and your HPC needs.
Default Limits
Student teams and organizations who have received access to Great Lakes will be able to use up to 100 CPUs in the standard partition and 1 GPU in the GPU partition. Jobs will be limited to 24 hours.
If members of your team do not have Linux experience at the Command Line, they can also use Great Lakes through their browser via Open OnDemand.
