Release 10.0

July 1, 2025

M-Inform was updated on July 1, 2025 to Version 10.0. Below is a summary of what's changed in the system.

Note: An additional M-Inform update on July 21 includes minor text changes. Please see the 10.1 Release Notes for more information.

Disclosure Form

Revised some text and formatting in the Disclosure Questions Form for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) and related system-generated email notifications in response to new federal and state regulations/guidelines, U-M policy changes, and to improve clarity. See a sample of the M-Inform Disclosure Form as of 07/01/2025, displaying all the pages, questions, and conditional sub-questions you may see when reporting a new outside activity.

New Email Notifications

  • Added a system email notification that will be sent to a discloser each time they submit their Annual Certification or Disclosure Update to provide confirmation of submission to disclosers.
    • Email Subject: Successfully Submitted M-Inform Disclosure
  • Added a system email notification that will be sent to a discloser once they have signed the Management Plan. This will occur for both individual and institutional COI Management Plans.
    • Email Subject: Successfully Signed COI Management Plan 

Company Profile

  • Added a bullet for "Venture or other capital funding" to question 8. Please describe the current state of the company, including but not limited to... 

  • Added two additional, non-required questions 10 and 11: 

    • If this Company holds any intellectual property (IP) that was not invented at U-M, please describe. 

    • If this Company holds any intellectual property (IP) that was invented at U-M (e.g., optioned, licensed, jointly owned, open sourced, etc.), please provide the IP File #s.

Other Enhancements

  • Replaced instances of "UMOR" with "OVPR" throughout the M-Inform system, including committees, meetings, roles, and workspaces. 
  • Identified all Nurse Practitioner job codes and will require them to disclose; and, determined a process that will allow for any new job codes to be factored in either automatically or through a manual process.

For COI Staff

  • Revised ability to sort/filter columns on custom searches for All Projects (Projects tab), All Disclosure Certs (All Disclosure Certs tab), and Reports (Disclosure Reports > Disclosers with OCI only).
  • Resolved an issue that prevented paging through project listers on the COI Staff Dashboard. (e.g., < Page 1 of 2 >)

COI Administrative Record (CAR)

  • When a PAF including sponsors with ICOI is routed to "Negotiation in Progress", a CAR will automatically be created by overnight processing, similarly to PHS. That CAR should also have the "COI-ICOI" indicator flagged.
  • Resolved an issue where the COI office staff was unable to move a CAR in the state of "No Conflict Found to Closed", and received an error message: "Review is not complete on all Research Certifications or there is a Conflict found."
