This information was emailed on September 23, 2015, to all faculty and staff who have a MiWorkspace Mac.
Please do not install Apple's new operating system, OS X El Capitan (version 10.11), on your MiWorkspace Mac computer from the Mac App Store when it is released on Wednesday, September 30, 2015.
The new operating system will be available for download in the Managed Software Center as soon as it is fully tested for compatibility with U-M networks, administrative systems, and more than 200 software titles on MiWorkspace machines. You will receive an email notification when OS X El Capitan is available.
In preparation for OS X El Capitan, Sophos Anti-Virus will be replaced with System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) on Thursday, September 24. You will receive the new security software as an update in the Managed Software Center. SCEP will perform better on OS X El Capitan, detect threats and malware more reliably, and require less battery than the current version of Sophos. You will not need to do anything different with the new security software.
