A new tool was released earlier this summer to help unit leadership and IT staff manage hardware inventory. The Unit Hardware Inventory is a reporting tool designed to help with hardware purchases, ordering, and device deployment and disposition. We’re working closely with units to improve the tool based on feedback.
Plant Operations plans to use reports from the Hardware Inventory to anticipate the number of computers that will need to be replaced and how that will impact the budget each fiscal year. “We are working directly with ITS staff to resolve problems and to improve the data accuracy. I think it is getting close,” said Ron Loveless, Plant Operations IT manager and member of the MiWorkspace Advisory Group. “Once these problems are resolved, we plan to use the report to guide our computer replacement program across all Plant Operations units.”
