Meet Mike McGookey

My name is Mike McGookey and I am currently a Junior in Computer Science Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

This summer I am interning with the Database Administration group here at ITS. I am working on a few different projects for my department. They include building a Google Site to house the team’s resources, editing and writing bash scripts for database maintenance, and researching a package management system for synchronizing database settings across servers. I am also working on a project with other interns creating a tool that allows for recently graduated students to copy files out of AFS and onto their local computer.

Outside of work, I enjoy working on my computer, skiing, and golfing. After completing my undergrad degree in computer science, I plan to continue with school to get a master’s degree in computer science, preferably from the University of Michigan. I would also like to go back to school after working for a few years and get an MBA.
