Project Overview

CTools sites have become read-only

As of Fall 2018, CTools sites have become read-only.  Site content can be viewed and downloaded, but not modified or deleted.  If you need sites deleted or site membership modified, contact the ITS project team.

Exemptions to read-only status have been made for sites that contain export controlled data as well as for other sites that submitted exemption requests.  If your site needs to be reactivated, contact the ITS project team with the name of your site, reason for reactivation, and how long you need the site to remain active.

All content in CTools will remain available in a read-only state at least through July 1, 2019.

You can use this website to find the project timeline, advice on getting started moving or deleting your sites, training opportunities and resources, alternative services to replace CTools project sites, answers to frequently asked questions, and help.

Moving Out of CTools

U-M is preparing to decommission CTools, a system used for learning management, file sharing, and research support for more than a decade. ITS is working with the campus community and individual site owners to transition project sites away from CTools and into alternative services.

The self-service CTools Project Site Migration Tool allows site owners to download a project site's resources, email archive and member list, and/or delete the site. For training sites requiring a broader range of capabilities, requests can be made to migrate content to Canvas.  Support clinics will be offered throughout the transition period.
