Diagnosis & Software Repair
When you come to talk with us about a problem your computer is having, we'll ask you a few questions to help discern the nature of the issue. When you bring the computer, we'll look it over quickly to make an initial assessment as to the likely cause of the trouble.
Many times, problems can be resolved with a software remediation. However, it is not always possible to determine the source of a problem at first glance. If after taking it in for diagnosis, we discover that your computer problems are hardware-related, we'll stop work and notify you. (In some cases, you may be charged the minimum fee of $80.)
We can provide hardware repair and support for both personally owned and University owned computers and computing equipment.
In-warranty repairs can usually be done at no cost to you. We are authorized to perform warranty-covered work on:
- Apple computers
- iPad / iPhone / iPod
- Apple TV
- Beats by Dr. Dre
- Dell computers
- HP computers and printers
- Microsoft Surface*
- devices covered by a Safeware Protection Plan
We can also provide out-of-warranty and non-warranty repairs on these and most other major brands. Standard rates and payment guidelines apply.
If we are not able to provide service to your hardware, we will work with you to find other options for the service you need.
*Service offered on the Surface product family is facilitation of Microsoft’s exchange/replacement program. We charge an $80 flat fee for both in- and out-of-warranty Surface service, unless covered by Safeware. We make every effort to provide expedited service; however, turnaround time to receive replacement hardware from Microsoft can take anywhere from 15-45 days. Customers who wish to handle exchange/replacement directly with Microsoft are likely to experience a similar timeline.
