Voice Over IP (VoIP) telephones communicate across our campus data network and are a growing alternative to traditional (analog) telephones.
ITS supports over 9,000 Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephones on the Ann Arbor, Michigan Medicine, Dearborn, and Flint campuses, including desk phones, cordless sets, soft clients on computers and other devices.
Additional IP services include:
- IP Contact Centers
- IP Fax
- Softphones
- SIP Trunks
VoIP & Campus Telephone Strategy
ITS has proposed a strategic vision and infrastructure effort to transition the university telephone service onto a single data network over time. This is part of a larger effort to replace outdated analog telephone infrastructure, retire legacy technology, and ensure the campus community can reliably use telephones across campus. ITS will provide more information to campus units as decisions are made which support this strategy.
