U-M Box July Monthly Summary

August 6, 2019

The monthly U-M Box Summaries inform campus of Box releases. We communicate important information throughout the month and summarize them below.

New updates:

Coming soon, this update will make it easier for you to stay on top of your work: the all-new Task Center allows you to view all your actionable work, while the enhanced Notification Center helps you keep track of relevant activities in U-M Box.

If you are an iOS user, you will also see an updated navigation that consolidates Browse, Recents, Favorites, and Offline into a single tab, making the Android and iOS app interfaces more similar.

The Box Web App within the U-M domain now has a metadata experience that allows you to add metadata to files and folders. Rather than navigating to individual files to add metadata, you can also apply metadata at the folder level, and create cascade policies to apply metadata templates and attributes down to subfolders and files.

You can now preview older versions of a file in addition to its current version. With this update, file version history details will move to the preview sidebar to make it easier to preview the content of prior versions. Currently, file version history details appear in a pop-up. All other features related to file versions (such as making older versions current, downloading versions, and deleting and restoring versions) will remain the same.
