ITS and Pharmacy to pilot account recovery setup prompt during Weblogin
In May and June, the College of Pharmacy and Information and Technology Services will pilot a new way to set account recovery information. Account recovery information is used to reset a forgotten UMICH password.
When students, faculty, and staff in these two units log in via Weblogin in the coming weeks, they will see a one-time prompt to review and update a non-UMICH email address and/or mobile phone number that can be used to reset a forgotten UMICH (Level-1) password.
Pilot participants will receive a short survey by email requesting feedback about the experience. The feedback will help inform future plans to release the account recovery setup prompt to the rest of campus.
Account recovery at U-M
Anyone can set up their account recovery information anytime at UMICH Account Management, but the prompt being piloted will make it more convenient to do so. The ITS Service Center will continue to assist users with questions about account recovery.
About the account recovery setup pilot
ITS is partnering with the College of Pharmacy to test the prompt’s effectiveness and solicit feedback from a representative sample of the university community. The pilots will help determine the feasibility of the approach and its impact on pilot participants.
The Weblogin pilot is part of the Account Lifecycle Optimization project in the Enterprise Identity & Access Management Program. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the pilot or the project, please email the project team at [email protected].
