Active Directory (UMROOT)

Several Windows Active Directory (AD) forests are in use at U-M. The largest and most inclusive of these is UMROOT, which is administered by ITS. UMROOT is where users are created and both central and local units place their Active Directory (AD) objects for using the Windows infrastructure.

In May 2019, Active Directory (UMROOT) servers will be upgraded with new hardware running Windows Server 2016 (replacing the current Windows Server 2012 R2 servers). If you are responsible for computers or other devices that use AD, learn what you need to do to prepare at Active Directory Upgrade to Windows Server 2016.
