Project Site Migration Clinics

Meet with a CTools consultant about your project sites. Get help downloading your project site content, and learn about alternative services.

Fall Migration Clinic was held on Friday, November 10, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the ScholarSpace in Hatcher Graduate Library.  If you were not able to attend, contact us with your questions:

Upcoming Training Opportunities

Three new instrutor-led training sessions on collaboration tools are availble to U-M faculty and staff.  All sessions are free of charge and are open for registration in My LINC.

Working with U-M Box (ITS_BOXC100), February 2, 1:00 - 3:00; Shapiro 2054; REGISTER

(2 hrs) This hands-on instructor-led session demonstrates how to get the most out of your U-M Box account. Learn about file storage and and sharing. Find out how to set various permission levels depending on collaborators’ roles. Edit files directly from Box and send links for others to view. Bring your laptop if you would like to follow along.


Working With Google Drive (ITS_GOOC102), Feburary 13, 1:00 - 3:00; Shapiro 2054; REGISTER

(2 hrs) Want to learn how to use Google Drive more productively? This instructor-led session will help familiarize you with the main Google Drive applications: Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Participants will learn how to upload and create files, how to set permissions for files, and how to share files.


Working with the New and Improved Google Sites (ITS_GOOC2014), March 9, 2:00 - 3:00, Wolverine Tower G228; REGISTER

(1 hr) Want to create websites that are easy to use but yet dynamic? This instructor-led session will help you create a basic site(s) using Google Sites. Participants will learn how to create a site by adding pages, images, text, graphics, and embed Google Documents, Sheets, Forms and other apps. This 1 hour instructor-led course is scheduled at least 3 times a year. Prerequisite: Basic understanding of Google products.

Using the Project Site Migration Tool 

Project Site owners can use the migration tool to download content from a project site’s Resources tool as a .zip file, and/or download content from the site’s Email Archive tool as a text file (.zip) or as an .MBOX file that can be uploaded to Apple Mail or Thunderbird.  You can also use the tool to copy the site's member list and/or delete project sites.

Learn about alternative services to use with materials that you download from your project site

With materials that you download, there are several alternative options for collaboration, communication, and storage.  For help understanding which tool(s) best meets your needs, please use the CTools Project Sites Alternatives Page or the CTools Project Sites Alternatives Wizard.  If you need additional assistance, please email your migration champion(s)

Log in to your U-M Box account

  1. Type into your browser address field.
  2. On the U-M Weblogin screen, enter your uniqname and UMICH password. You will not be prompted if you are already signed in.
