Meet Zach Scott

My name is Zach Scott and I am a Computer Science & English major going on my fifth year at the University of Michigan-Flint.

Here at ITS I work within Teaching & Learning, a group that develops and implements technologies that help the U-M community learn and collaborate (like CTools and Canvas, for example). My project, though, involves the development of a new platform altogether. This platform will combine geographic information systems, like Google Maps, and augmented reality software to reveal the social and historical richness of campus in new and exciting ways. This locative approach to learning will teach users more about their chosen field, but my hope is that it will also teach us more about our community. Alongside this project, I will also be working on this very webpage to increase awareness of the ITS Summer Internship program.

In my spare time, I like to be involved in music. I have played guitar for about five years now, and I am currently taking drum lessons. I also read quite a bit, and I am always working on some sort of short story or poem. If everything works out, I'd like to be an English professor some day.
