Student Administration Strategic Advisory Committee (SASAC)

Scope

The scope of the committee includes information and technology assets that support administrative processing for Student Administration areas, including:

  • Recruiting
  • Admissions
  • New Student Programs
  • Placements & Testing
  • Curriculum Management
  • Registration, Grading
  • Classroom Scheduling and Final Exams
  • Student Records Management, Transcripts, Diplomas
  • Academic Advising, Degree Audit
  • Teaching Evaluations
  • Financial Aid
  • Student Financial Services
  • Global Engagement
  • International Student Services

The scope includes technologies that are purchased / managed by ITS and those purchased / managed by central offices, schools / colleges, both for awareness, data security, and management of data feeds.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy
    • Develop, advise and monitor Student Administration applications strategy as well as its alignment to Administrative Domain strategy and University IT strategy.
  • Advise
    • Represent interests of members’ own units and, to the best of their ability, those of peer units across campus.
    • Review and recommend standards and policies governing the management of Student Administration data. These recommendations will be advisory to the Data Steward who holds decision making authority.
  • Prioritize
    • Participate in evaluating prioritization criteria for proposed work.
    • Approve and monitor progress of work on a monthly or quarterly basis.
    • Prioritize investments in Student Administration applications, projects, and enhancements as input to ITS.
    • Prioritization process and guidelines will be agreed upon by the group.
  • Communicate
    • Communicate and support Student Administration applications strategies within their home organization and among peers.
    • Provide feedback on issues and concerns from within their home organization.

Membership

  • Domain Steward - The Domain Steward for Student Administration (Kedra Ishop) will oversee the group and represent the Student Administration domain on the Administrative Domain Advisory Council (ADAC).
  • Co-Chairs - the committee will be chaired by the ITS Assistant Director for Student Administration (Amie Robison) and Assistant Vice Provost for Enrollment Planning and Technology (Kortney Briske). The chairs will convene and conduct the meetings, ensure that proper preparation is done before the meetings, and send communications and follow-up.

  • School and College Representatives - The Domain Steward will invite 3-5 Associate/Assistant Deans as rotating members from Schools & Colleges, including at least 1 large, 1 small, and one graduate professional school.

  • Central Office Representatives - These will include Directors from the central offices that support the primary Student Administration processes. These include:
    • Director, Office of Undergraduate Admissions (Erica Sanders)
    • Executive Director, Office of Financial Aid (Pam Fowler)
    • Director, Office on New Student Programs (Ann Hower)
    • Director, Student Business Services (Bryan Howard)
    • Director, Rackham Admissions/Academic Records & Dissertations (Monique Washington)
    • Associate Vice Provost and University Registrar (Paul Robinson)
  • Other Representatives include:

Meetings

Meetings will be held 3-4 times a year, with at least one meeting during the fall, winter, and summer. At the start, the group may choose to meet more frequently to get established.
